Flexible Dentures

Traditional Dentures
Traditional dentures are removable prosthetic devices used to replace missing teeth and surrounding gum tissue. They are made of an acrylic or metal base, and stay in place using natural suction or dental adhesives.

Steps in fabricating a Complete Dentures
Step #1
Selection of the patient
Complete dentures are indicated for completely edentulous patients. If the patient prefers a complete denture but has a few unhealthy teeth, the clinician can perform total extraction and alveoloplasty to smoothen the alveolar bone. Ideally, it’s best to wait for one to two months post-extraction to allow for the initial alveolar bone resorption. Progressing with the denture immediately after tooth extraction may result in loosening and reduced convenience for the patient.

Primary impression
The primary impression of the upper and lower alveolar bridge is registered using non-perforated trays with impression compound.
Step #3
Fabrication of Stock Tray
The stock tray, used in the fabrication of the best dental implants in Bangalore, is made up of acrylic or base plate that can be fabricated either in the lab or by the clinician to take the secondary impression.
Step #4
Border moulding
2mm thickness of the material is trimmed of along the borders of the stock tray and, the greenstick compound is melted and adapted to all these borders and keep the stock tray inside the patient’s mouth to register the alveolar folks and frenum also to get the denture extension.
Step #5
Secondary Impression
Once done with border molding, the secondary impression has to be taken with light body impression material. The primary and secondary impressions together replicate the complete upper and lower edentulous areas, ensuring an accurate fit.
Step #6
Fabrication of Wax Rims
The secondary impression can be poured by dental stone and the cast can be sent to the lab for making occlusal rims (upper and lower) by articulating it.
Step #7
Jaw Relation
It is a crucial step in fabricating a complete denture, jaw relation can be done with face bow transfer, fox plane . Occlusion rest at rest and occlusal rest at occlusion are established by adjusting the upper and lower occlusal rims. Horizontal and vertical jaw relation is achieved and in this stage patient’s smile line, buccal corridor, smile pattern, and lip fullness have to be checked.
Step #8
Fabrication of denture
Both the upper and lower occlusal rims are stapled and sent to the lab along with the shade selection of the tooth and material of choice They will be fabricating the denture.
Step #9
Delivering the final denture
After ensuring proper fit and frenal relief, any minor adjustments are made, and the upper and lower dentures are fitted into the patient’s mouth for optimal comfort.
Removable Partial Dentures
Similar to complete dentures, removable partial dentures are given to partially edentulous patients. It is a removable option for replacing the teeth if the patient doesn’t opt for a fixed prosthesis like bridges or implants.
